Eng. Babirye Kagga

Eng. Babirye Kagga is a registered professional Engineer in Uganda and South Africa. She holds a Master in Civil Engineering from the University of Southampton in UK, and Bachelors in Civil Engineering with Environmental Management from University of Birmingham, UK. With well over 25 years’ in leading and designing water supply, sanitation, and road projects in India, Uganda and South Africa. She has worked on several water supply projects in Uganda; designed landfill sites including Burgersfort in Fetakgomo Tubaste Local Municipality and Libageni at Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality in South Africa. Involved on the Vaal River Eastern Sub System  Augmentation Project worth 1.7 billion rand.

Babs has Public Private Participation (PPPs) expertise on Transaction Advisory Services, she has worked on the Feasibility Study to explore the possibility of Energy Storage Banks to save on the bulk purchase of Electricity and Tariff Modelling Review for Polokwane Local Municipality; the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) of the Social housing units in Extensions 76 and 107 (962 Units) under the Polokwane Housing Association in South Africa.

She is currently Project Managing the Maintenance of Mechanical Infrastructure for 21 Dams and Pump Stations in the Orange Vaal Area for the Department of Water and Sanitation with a maintenance programme budget of R1,3 Billion rands”.

Babs has project managed over 16 sanitation including on-site sanitation and landfill projects at Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality, in Mpumalanga Province in South Africa. She has interacted with local communities on the grass level. She has full working knowledge of Ugandan, South African and British Design Water and Sanitation Standards.
